GTX applies the slide headstock concept
from Swiss-type lathes literally in a new
direction: Y-axis instead of Z. The Y-axis
is decoupled from tool post reducing
stack-on error and its travel range is
wider than other machines in this class.
The Y-axis of GTX easily allows doubling
of live tool units in small amount of
space. Shown is a unit with 1 HP servo
and 4 live tool spindles that take ER-20 collets. The live tool spindles have
maximum speed of 3000 rpm. Other
types of live tool units can be mounted
on the gang tool slide.
